Q: Can I use midiLink with the same computer as I already have a MIDI interface.
A: Yes, Windows can handle this and most MIDI applications have a way to select which MIDI interface(s) you want to use.

Q: What is "Multiple Client Support"?
A: It means that you can use the midiLink with up to 4 simultaneously active MIDI applications. For example: It is possible to have a window for your sequencer and your sound editor/librarian open at the same time and share the same driver. The Windows NT/XP driver 1.17 does NOT support multiple clients. However, it is a standard feature in the Windows 95/98 driver 2.3.

Q: MIDI does not work when connecting my midiLink active cable with a 9pin-to-25pin adapter. Why?
A: When using a 9pin-to-25pin adapter specially made for connecting a mouse, this can cause problems. Check your adapter, midiLink needs the following signals: DTR,RTS,GND,TD,RD,CTS.

Q: I receive the messagebox "...active cable was not detected..." even though I have the right settings, Why?
A:

1. When using a 9pin-to-25pin adapter specially made for connecting a mouse, this can cause problems. Check your adapter, midiLink needs the following signals: DTR,RTS,GND,TD,RD,CTS.
2. A nice way to test MidiLink is to use Windows Media Player or the MIDI monitor which you can download from our website.
3. Make sure that no other device has allocated the serial port. For example: Serially connected printers, drivers for other serial devices (for example: Palm Hotsync).
4. Try to uninstall and reinstall a new driver from our website. You can download a User-Mode driver for maximum compatibility with all kinds of serial port hardware.
5. If possible, try the MidiLink active cable on another PC to verify the functionality.
6. If possible test your serial port with other devices (for example: modem, mouse etc.).

A: Notebooks sometimes have special settings for model specific features. Check your user's guide. Note following: Enable the serial ports. Disable all power management. Clock speed as high as possible.

Q: My "Emagic Logic" software behaves strange when I use midiLink. Why?
A: According to the documentation for the Emagic "Logic", it is not possible to use other devices (than a mouse) on the same serial port as the hardware key. You have to connect the midiLink to the other serial port (and the mouse through the hardware key).

Q: I have very few IRQs left and why can't I share the IRQ for midiLink with the other serial port?
A: Since the midiLink driver not is a part of the Windows serial port driver it is NOT possible to share IRQs with any other device.
